1  Here’s a look at last night’s line combos and D pairings

Tenute – Blunden – Holland

Leblanc -Bournival- Dumont

Murovich–Stortini – Chaput

Lefebvre – Hagel – Leveille

Pateryn – Beaulieu

Ellis – DeSantis

Stejskal – Tinordi

St. Denis is still out and no update on when he will return. Avtsin and Fortier sit out Leveille and Lefebvre draw back in.

2  The PK went 0 for 1 tonight bringing the total for the month of February to 39 of 44.   All quiet on the penalty front tonight only two calls all game it was as if the referee had lost his whistle.

3  The Dogs went 0 for 1 with the man advantage tonight.  This brings their total so far for the month of  February to 5 goals in 35 chances and breaks their streak of 3 straight games with at least one power play goal scored. They were so bad on the PP they recorded no shots on goal and gave up 2 good scoring chances. Pateryn, Bealieu, Chaput, Tenute and Dumont made up the first unit while Blunden, Bournival, Leblanc, Holland and DeSantis made up the second unit. What I find odd is that Leblanc, Dumont and Bournival play together on a line during the game. So why would you break them up for the power play it doesn’t make sense to me. If it were up to me I’d leave those three together and throw Holland and DeSantis on the point and plant Dumont in front of the net.

4  The Dogs were outshot 49 to 30. Pardy and Girgensons were the only Amerks not to get a shot on goal tonight. They were outshot 18-7 in the first and 19-6 in the second yet the score after one was 1-0 and after two 2-0. In the third they outshot Rochester 17-12 with the bulk of the shots coming in the last 2 minutes and 47 seconds when the Dogs pulled the goalie for an extra attacker.

5 Quick points:

a) This was the 7th time this year that they have been shutout.

b) This was the 8th meeting between the two teams this year with Hamilton going 1-6-0-1 with 4 games left in the series.

c) Dogs 4 game win streak came to an end. It was also their longest win streak of the year.

d) Patrice Brisebois wasn’t behind the bench tonight they were 3-0 with him their.

e) Dogs home record drops to 12-9-1-2.

6  Tokarski stood on his head tonight stopping 17 of 18 in the first 18 of 19 in the second and 12 of 12 in the third. The two shots that beat him were from just inside the blueline. In the two games so far with the Dogs he’s played very good. I still can’t figure out why Tampa would trade him. The only thing I have noticed is some of the long shots give him a little trouble so far 3 of the 4 goals he has given up have come from the blueline. Tokarski kept the Dogs in this one till the end. It will be interesting to see if they stick with him or go back to Mayer who has won his last three starts.

7  The Dogs just didn’t play 3 full periods tonight they kept getting pinned down in their own end. They gave up a few odd man rushes by turning the puck over at the blueline. On one play Mancari went in on a breakaway when Beaulieu gave up the puck, but fortunately Beaulieu caught up to him and broke the play up before Mancari could get the shot off. The Dogs best period was the third they seemed to wake up. They had 17 shots on goal in the period which was more than they had in the first two period combine.

8  A look at the 3 stars of the game

1st star David Leggio of Rochester who stopped all 30 shots he faced would have been my pick for 1st star. He played a great game the Dogs couldn’t buy a goal.

2nd star Dustin Tokarski of Hamilton who stopped 47 of 49 shots wouldn’t have been my pick for 2nd star he would have been my 3rd star pick. My choice would have been Luke Adam who had 1 goal which was the game winner, 4 shots, and a +1 rating.

3rd star Luke Adam of Rochester with 1 goal 4 shots  and +1 rating wouldn’t have been my pick for 3rd star he would have been my 2nd star. I would have had Dustin Tokarski in this spot.

9  Premium Player of the Game went to Louie Leblanc with 4 shots and a -1 rating he would also have been my choice. He had 2 of the Dogs first 7 shots on goal. He’s playing really well right now but the goals just aren’t coming.

10 The Dogs next home game will be Feb. 22 in Montreal against the Amerks.
