Canadiens Sign Antoine Waked

Undrafted right wing free agent Antoine Waked has signed a three year contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

20-year old Waked has played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) since being drafted 67th overall by the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Since making his major junior debut in 2013-14, Waked has 157 regular season points in 224 career games.

Antoine Waked
Position: Right Wing
Age: 20
Birthplace: St-Bruno-de-Montarville, QC, Canada
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 190
2016-17 Stats: 39 Goals/41 Assists = 80 points in 67 games

Antoine destroyed his personal QMJHL records in goals, assists, points and plus/minus in over the course of the 2016-17 regular season. After not having more than 40 points in his career, Waked was the team leader in points for the second-place Huskies.

He was born not far from Laval and that is where he will likely play for the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League (AHL) next season. He has just completed his overage season in the QMJHL, meaning he will move on next season.

After squeaking past the 15th seed Halifax Mooseheads in six games in the first round, the Huskies lost in seven to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Chicoutimi is currently giving the first place Saint John Sea Dogs a run for their money with the series tied at two a piece.

Last August, Antoine was invited to the Winnipeg Jets’ rookie camp but did not come out with an entry level contract. However, after all of the hard work and talent provided to scouts, he finally earned a contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

All About The Habs would like to welcome Antoine Waked to the organization and wish him and his family the best for the years to come!
