The Habs continued their winning ways behind a strong performance from Carey Price, stopping 32 out of 33 shots faced in a 2-1 win in New Jersey. The Habs goals were scored by Colby Armstrong (really!!) and Tomas Plekanecs team leading 12 goal of the year. Saturday also marked Jarred Tinordi’s Habs debut. He made an immediate impact logging 14 minutes and 48 seconds of ice time, he was also a +2, blocked one shot and got the assist on the eventual game winning goal. With 42 points the Canadiens regain their position at the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Good: I don’t think there were any Price detractors after tonight’s game. If it were not his best performance of the season, it was up there. The loan goal he did let up was tipped and he had no chance. Jarred Tinordi looks like he fit right in on the Habs blue line. He did make a couple mental mistakes and was out of position a couple times, but that is to be expected as he is a rookie and we know he will only get better. P.K. Subban just keep getting better and better as the season moves on. No points for him tonight, but he did have 5 shots and blocked two shots. Personally I love the way Gabriel Dumont is playing. Not a big guy, but he plays like he is. The Habs won 46 out of 80 faceoffs or 57%.

The Bad: Not many negative things to report from this game. The only thing I noticed was that David Desharnais wasn’t playing like a man who just signed a $14m contract. He didn’t play well in the corners and boards and I expect him to play harder to earn his money. The Habs got out shot 33-22 and definitely need to work on that.

The Ugly: Nothing to report here!!!

Key Player(s): Carey Price, Jarred Tinordi

Overall it was a good tight game and most importantly the Habs won!!!!

Broken Record, Broken Needle: Marc Bergevin Missing The Point

The end of the season press conference has come and gone.  Marc Bergevin and Geoff Molson came to address the usual group of individuals from the media and while a fresh note or two was played at this proverbial concert, this presser has –in essence– only made things worse.   Marc and Geoff preach a […]
