2017 NHL All Star Skills Competition

Saturday night hosted the annual skills competition at the 2017 NHL All Star weekend. The event took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The Montreal Canadiens were well represented at the event by goaltender Carey Price and defenceman Shea Weber. Also in Los Angeles to stand behind the bench at the All-Star Games tomorrow is Head Coach Michel Therrien. Below are results for all of the events at tonight’s skills competition.

Gatorade NHL Skills Challenge Relay

“Points Available: 3 – The team with the fastest time in each heat scores one point; the team with the fastest overall time scores one bonus point” – NHL.com

 

NHL All Star

The Metropolitan Division took the first event of the NHL All Star Skills Competition with the fastest time with just short of 18 seconds better than the next fastest team. The Pacific Division was the only division of the four to take over two minutes to complete the event.

Honda NHL Four Line Challenge

Points Available: 1 – The Team with most points at end of event scores one point.” – NHL.com

NHL All Star

Led by a solid goal from centre ice by Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks and a goal line-to-goal line goal from Arizona Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith, the Pacific took the Honda NHL Four Line Challenge at the 2017 NHL All Star Skills Competition.

DraftKings NHL Accuracy Shooting

Points Available: 6 -The winner of each match-up scores one point; the player who hits all four targets in the fastest time scores the bonus point for his team. If a player breaks Daniel Sedin’s record of 7.3 seconds, they score one bonus point for their team.” – NHL.com

NHL All Star

The Pacific Division were the only division to have both representatives come out as winners in this event. Meanwhile, Sidney Crosby hit all four targets faster than any other player.

Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater

Points Available: 6 – The winner of each match-up scores one point; the team with the fastest skater scores a bonus point; if the fastest skater is successful in breaking Dylan Larkin’s record of 13.172 seconds, an additional bonus point will be awarded to his team.” – NHL.com

NHL All Star

Sophomore player Connor McDavid earned the fastest skater title for this season. Although, Dylan Larkin’s NHL record still stands.

Oscar Mayer NHL Hardest Shot

Points Available: 6 – The winner of each match-up scores one point; the team with the player who has the hardest shot scores one bonus point; if a player breaks Zdeno Chara’s record of 108.8 mph, they score one bonus point for their team.” – NHL.com

NHL All Star

Habs defenceman Shea Weber won the NHL hardest shot competition for the third consecutive year. Rookie Patrik Laine was the only other one to have their hardest shot marked at over 100 miles per hour.

Points Available: 1 point for every goal scored; 2 points for every goal scored with a Discover puck.” – NHL.com

NHL All Star

With the win at the 2017 NHL All Star Skills Competition, the Atlantic Division got to decide who they play in semi-finals tomorrow and which game they play. The Atlantic chose to play the Metropolitan Division in the second game, meaning the winner will play back-to-back games against the winner of the two western conference divisions.

2017 All- Star Game coverage begins at 3:00pm ET tomorrow. In Eastern Time, the Central vs. Pacific game will begun at 3:30pm – Atlantic vs. Metropolitan at 4:30pm and the final game at 5:30pm.

Canadiens Re-Up Charles Hudon For One Year
